Additional Operational Considerations

ČESMAD BOHEMIA membership:

The Czech road transport association through which CEMT permits, TIR carnets and bilateral transport permits are issued. Membership is required for transport operations outside the EU. COREDO can assist with the membership application process.

CMR insurance:

Carrier’s liability insurance under the CMR Convention is the industry standard for international freight. While not a statutory requirement, it is a practical prerequisite for operations. CMR insurance is separate from and does not substitute the financial standing requirement.

Operations outside the EU (CIS/Russia):

EORI number (mandatory for customs, approximately 2 working days), CEMT permits (multilateral, via ČESMAD BOHEMIA), TIR carnet (required for cross-border transit), Belarus transit permit (required per journey).

Dangerous goods transport (ADR):

Bezpečnostní poradce ADR (Safety Adviser) is mandatory (in-house or external), ADR vehicle inspection required, ADR driver certificate (valid for 5 years), extended insurance coverage required.

Driver permits for non-EU nationals (Osvědčení řidiče):

Drivers who are nationals of non-EU countries require a Driver Certificate pursuant to EU Regulation.

Required Documents

  • International passport of each director and shareholder (original or notarised copy)
  • Criminal record certificate: Czech Republic extract + country of origin (apostille and certified translation required for non-EU nationals)
  • Written consent of the property owner to use the address as the company’s registered office (virtual offices not accepted)
  • Proof of financial standing: EUR 9,000 for the first vehicle and EUR 5,000 for each additional vehicle
  • Certificate of Professional Competence of the Odpovědný zástupce
  • For VAT registration: letters of intent with clients; confirmation of vehicle ownership or lease agreement

Prior to commencement of the project, a standard client due diligence (KYC/AML) check is conducted in accordance with applicable compliance and regulatory requirements.

What is the financial standing requirement?

EUR 9,000 for the first vehicle and EUR 5,000 for each additional vehicle. This can be demonstrated through a bank statement, bank guarantee, or specialist financial standing insurance policy.

What is an Odpovědný zástupce?

The Odpovědný zástupce (Responsible Representative) is a natural person holding a valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in road freight transport. Czech law requires every transport operator to appoint one. COREDO can provide this service directly.
