Types of Companies in Albania
Foreign entrepreneurs can register a company in the Albanian Commercial Register in one of the following legal forms.
The choice of legal form depends on the scale of intended operations, the number of participants, and the strategic goals of the business. For most foreign investors entering the Albanian market for the first time, the Shpk is the optimal option — this form combines management flexibility with limited liability for founders and relatively modest initial capital requirements.
Company Registration Procedure
Registration of legal entities in Albania is carried out through the National Business Centre (QKB — Qendra Kombetare e Biznesit), established under Law No. 131/2015. QKB operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Albania. The registration process is fully available online through the government platform e-Albania.
Documents and power of attorney
You provide passport copies of the administrator and each shareholder and a description of the planned activities. COREDO prepares the Articles of Association and Articles of Incorporation in Albanian and English, the power of attorney and all accompanying documents.
Notarisation
COREDO assists with notarisation of the documents before a public notary in Albania. A power of attorney issued outside Albania must bear an apostille.
Filing with QKB via e-Albania
COREDO submits the application and documents to QKB through e-Albania and follows up with the registrar until the application is reviewed and approved.
Fiscal code and tax registration
On registration, the company receives its fiscal code and VAT identification number (NIPT) and is registered with the tax authorities. COREDO obtains the certificate of registration for you.
UBO register
COREDO prepares the file for registering the ultimate beneficial owner (UBO) and submits the application through e-Albania.
Corporate bank account
The company must open a corporate bank account within 20 days of registration. The administrator has to be present at the bank in person.
Albania imposes no residency requirements on founders and directors, making the jurisdiction attractive for international entrepreneurs.
As of 2025, the Albanian Commercial Register contains more than 252,000 registered business entities. The e-Albania platform provides a fully digital document submission process, significantly simplifying interaction with government authorities and reducing the time required for administrative procedures.
Registration Timelines
The process of registering a new legal entity in Albania typically takes no more than 5 business days, provided a complete set of documents is available. Upon completion of registration, the company is assigned a fiscal code and VAT number (NIPT), allowing it to commence business activities immediately.
It should be noted that actual timelines may increase if apostilisation of foreign documents is required or if the registrar makes additional requests. Preparing a complete set of documents before submitting the application helps minimise delays and ensures a smooth registration process. COREDO specialists help identify and address potential obstacles in advance, ensuring compliance with standard registration timelines.
Cost of Services
Registration is carried out via the e-Albania platform and takes approximately 24 hours. The price may vary depending on the specific case.
